It is with great sorrow that the family of Jean Shnier (nee Bercovitch) announce her natural passing on May 14 at the age of 88.
Jean was born in Winnipeg but spent most of her life in Montreal. Jean was an astute businesswoman and entrepreneur. She deeply loved reading, writing, music , laughter and above all her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Myrna Shnier, Patrisha McLean and Penny Stern, her grandchildren Fabio, Joseph, and Matthew Zeppilli, Jackie Strack, Wyatt Mclean, Derek and Justin Jamison and 9 great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by her nephews George and Jack Saltzberg of Toronto as well as her extended family in Winnipeg. Jean was predeceased by her parents Sophie (Harry) Marder and Issac Bercovitch, her twin sister Joan Gordon, her niece Anna Saltzberg , her brother-in-law Walter Saltzberg and the father of her children Bob Shnier. Many thanks to the staff of the Donald Berman Jewish Eldercare Centre Kastner 3 and Hope 3 as well as her caregiver Olga for taking such loving care of her during the last 3 years. A graveside funeral service took place on May 17th at the Back River Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Montreal.
