JOSEPH SAMUEL (JOSH) HALPRIN April 28, 1949 -January 12, 2023

We are deeply saddened to share the news of Josh’s death at the age of seventy-three. After a two-year battle with both Alzheimer’s and Cancer, he passed away gently with family at his side.
Josh was born in Winnipeg, the oldest son, and one of five siblings. He was predeceased by his brother Irving Charles (Chuckie), and his parents Miriam (Finkelstein) and Leonard Halprin. Josh is survived by his wife Barbara; Daughter Sarah; Son Michael (Rachael); Sister Rokie Bernstein (Robert); Brother David; Sister Megan; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews; and great-nephews.
Josh was a multi-faceted person. In his life he worked as a gas station attendant, managed a clothing boutique, was a toy buyer, owned a souvenir store, and even drove a cement truck. His final and favourite career was owning a successful sign shop in Canmore, Alberta.
In his youth Josh played many sports, and sacrificed his front teeth to hockey as a teenager. That did not stop his infectious smile. Josh was very friendly and outgoing. He had a quirky sense of humour, and will be remembered for his mischievous grin. Josh made friends easily and kept them for life. One of his favourite past-times was coffee with the “crew” an ever-changing group of guys who gathered daily.
Josh loved to tinker with things. He was fond of old cars and belonged to the Car Club. He loved to fly and had his pilot’s license. His goal was to one day own a small plane, but that was not to be.
Josh was a fan of Sun Tsu and often quoted the lessons from The Art of War. He had two philosophies he tried to live by: Patience, Tolerance and Understanding (PTU), and (KYMS) Keep Your Mouth Shut.
We will miss Josh dearly but will forever remember him.
There will be a celebration of life at the Canmore Golf and Curling Club, in Canmore, AB, on Sunday April 30th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. You may contact the family through wanderingmegan@gmail.com.
