Back Ground
In 1948, one day after Britain gave up its mandate for Palestine and allowed the UN partition the Jewish State renamed Israel, the surrounding Arab countries attacked.
Egypt took the Gaza Strip.
Syria periodically rained bombs from the Golan Heights on the Jewish farms, Kibbutzim, below.
Jordan took Judea and Samaria, now commonly called the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, kicking the Jews out of their homes. Jordan then brought in Arabs to live in these homes.
But Israel survived and celebrate Independence Day. The Arabs call it Nakba or the Catastrophe.
In 1956 – Egypt nationalized the Suez Canal, Israel, Britain & France attacked.
In 1967 the Six-Day War, Israel took the Golan Heights, recovered Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
1973 – Egypt and Syria attack Israel on Yom Kippur, the holiest day for Jews.
1979 – Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty signed.
1982 – Years of attacks by the PLO guerrillas based in Lebanon prompts an invasion of Lebanon capturing Beirut and sending the PLO and Yasser Arafat into exile in Tunisia.
1993 – Oslo Accord in Norway, Bill Clinton pulled the career terrorist Yasser Arafat and Mahmoud Abbas out of exile in Tunisia and put them in charge of the West Bank and Gaza to make Peace????
1994 – Israel-Jordan Peace Treaty signed.
At one point, a survey was conducted of Israeli Arabs as to whether they would rather live under Hamas, the Palestinian Authority or Israel, and 67% preferred Israel.
2005 – Land for Peace – Road Map to Peace – has proven futile.
Israel unilaterally vacated Gaza, Hamas took over Gaza killing Fatah members of the PLO/PA, followed by constant rocket and mortar fire raining on Southern Israel with periodic counter-attacks by Israel to stop the bombings.
Like the PLO, both their Charters call for the Destruction of the Jewish State.
Their Mantra: “Palestine from the River to the Sea” is chanted by Muslems around the world.
In 2014, Hamas launched rockets into Israel from Schools, Mosques and Residential buildings doing double War Crimes: Attacking Israeli civilians and using their own civilians as Human Shields. Israel dropped leaflets warning the Arabs to leave as they retaliated on Hamas launching areas. To be sure there were some civilian casualties including some children which Hamas played up to the world through the Media.
Charles Krauthammer, Pulitzer Prize Winner; “For Hamas, the only thing more prized than dead Jews are dead Palestinians.”
On May 14, 2018, the US embassy was officially opened in Jerusalem coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the Israeli Declaration of Independence. Hamas incited and paid 1000s of Gazans to provide a human shield while terrorists tried to breach Israel’s border fence to invade, kill and kidnap Israelis. At one point with 62 deaths, 50 were Hamas operatives.
“The Perfect Storm”
With Jerusalem Day coinciding with Eid, at the end of Ramadan and as a flash point, a buyer wants to purchase four properties in East Jerusalem from the registered owners. This required the eviction of the squatters. These Arabs did not purchase the properties nor paid rent for them.
Imams during Ramadan encouraged their worshipers to bring to Al Aqsa Mosque rocks, molotov cocktails and fireworks in planning the uprising to come with the Jerusalem Day parade. Also by blocking the Damascus Gate steps to the old city, clashes with Israeli Jews were predictable. During Eid, Ramadan’s end celebration, they threw rocks down upon the Jews praying at the Westen Wall.
To end the rioting with rocks, molotov cocktails and fireworks, police entered Al Aqsa Mosque. The Imams used this to stir up further Muslem outrage across Israel. One firebomb ignited a tree on the Temple Mount.
Radical Arabs and Jews are now attacking people of the other side.
Now, enter Hamas with their arsenal of Iranian supplied rockets to advance their Genocidal ambition. So far, they’ve launched 2000+ towards Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Israel has predictably responded with attacks on Hamas officials, storage and launch sites. Israel warns the targeted building residents to leave before they attack, to prevent/minimize civilian casualties.
On the other hand, Hamas launches rockets indiscriminately hoping for maximum casualties. Mis-launched rockets have killed Gazans including women and children. These casualties are played up to the World Media.
In other such conflicts, world leaders pressure Israel to De-Escalate before finishing off Hamas. Hamas usually agrees to a cease-fire when they are out of ammunition. This gives a period of calm, while they reload, build more tunnels under the Border and hide their military assets and bomb-shelters for their leadership.
With Hamas dedicated to Israel’s destruction and human lives being merely assets to sacrifice to their cause, hopefully this time, Israel will finish off Hamas . If not, Hamas will reload and the killing and suffering will repeat.
