In a post on the Simkin Centre website it was noted that the Covid outbreak at the Centre, which first began April 2, is now over on both Weinberg 1 & 3. Residents on Weinberg 1 will no longer be confined to their units – something which was declared allowed for residents on Weinberg 3 9 days ago.
Residents on Weinberg 2, however, are still considered to be in an outbreak situation, with 4 residents still having Covid. Residents on that unit are not allowed to visit any other units.
This brings the total number of residents at the Simkin Centre who came down with Covid since April 2 to 34, including 16 in Weinberg 3 (all recovered) and 14 on Weinberg 1 (all recovered). There have not been any fatalities during this most recent outbreak of Covid at the Simkin Centre.
April 20, 2023 The Covid outbreak that began April 2 at the Simkin Centre has now been declared over in Weinberg 3.
In a post to the Simkin Centre website today, Simkin Centre CEO Laurie Cerqueti wrote that “We are pleased to share with you that the outbreak on Weinberg 3 has been declared over.”
There was no further information given as to the nuimber of active Covid cases on Weinberg 1 or 2.
Following is what we reported on April 17, 2023: According to the latest information posted to the Simkin Centre website, there are currently 17 active cases of Covid among residents of the Centre.
That brings the number of residents who have had Covid since April 2 at the Simkin Centre to 33, including 16 in Weinberg 3 who have now recovered, three on Weinberg 2 who are active as of today, and 14 on Weinberg 1 who are active as of today.
The latest round of Covid spread rapidly from Weinberg 3, which had 11 active cases as of April 5 and 16 active cases as of April 8. At the same time as Weinberg 3 had 16 active cases 11 days ago, however, Weinberg 1 had only 2 active cases.
According to the Simkin Centre website, “visitors to Weinberg 1, 2, and 3 may continue to visit at their own risk and must wear the required personal protective equipment that includes a mask and eye protection.”
