ISRAEL (IZZY) SHUSTER

Israel ShusterSurrounded by family, Israel (Izzy) Shuster passed on July 4, 2015 at 91 years.

He will be remembered by his daughters Rickie (Sid) Minuk, Sheryn Smith and Cynthia (Ben) Friedman; as well his six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren will hold his memory dearly. In 2005 his loving wife of over 60 years, Evelyn, passed. He was also predeceased by his brothers Harvey and Max and sister Ann Chochinov. He retired from the working world at the age of 86, having had a long and varied career. After selling his businesses, he chose to work as an employee. Although he had many skills, there wasn’t a motor that he couldn’t bring to life. As a young man he excelled at soccer and as life evolved, so did his passion for sports. From golf to bowling to water skiing, Dad tried them all, golfing into his 80’s. Mom and Dad enjoyed travel on many continents and many, many, years of winter vacations. In 2010 he took up residence at the Shaftesbury Park where he enjoyed four years of enjoyable activity and weekly poker games. This past year he resided at the Simkin Centre where he received kind and loving care. The family is very grateful to the staff of Weinberg 3 and all of the support staff who helped to make his days comfortable and bright. Special thanks to all of the staff who helped to make his final journey as easy as possible for all concerned. Those wishing to honour his memory can make a donation to the Simkin Centre or the charity of their choice.
