By BERNIE BELLAN Gray Academy reports a slight increase in enrolment for the 2022-23 school year. According to Head of School Lori Binder, there are 469 students registered at Gray Academy from JK-12. That compares with a total of 458 students who were enrolled at Gray Academy last year.
Enrolment in previous years was also at approximately the same level, with slight fluctuations from year to year. Here are the figures for the three years prior to 2021: 2020 – 481 2019 – 469 2018 – 469
Of the 469 students now at Gray Academy, Lori gave the following breakdown: Elementary (JK-Gr. 6): 247 High School (Gr. 7-12): 222 There are also 66 new students at Gray Academy this year, of whom 29 are new to JK & K, 21 are new to Grades 1-6 and 16 are new to the High School.
We also noted in a story that appeared in a previous issue that 17 students had left the school following the 2021-22 school year as a result of their families moving to other cities. We also noted in that same story that some of the students new to Gray Academy this year are from Ukraine.
Enrolment in the Hebrew Bilingual program at Brock Corydon School is 193, from K-6. Last year the enrolment was 200. On a related note, Brock Corydon School has a new principal, Chris Sigurdson, who has taken over from previous principal Ara Morris.
