It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Saul Youssiem on March 1st. 2018.
He was born August 31st 1926 in Winnipeg. His parents were Rubin and Rose Youssiem Z’L.
Saul was married to his loving and devoted wife Sandy for 40 years…..he was an endearing father to Rhonda (Chris Lovering) David Z’L (Shelley Garfield) and Cara (Alex Paiuk) and a loving Zadie to Lauren and Ashley Youssiem and Aiven, Pepper and Ellie Paiuk. A beloved brother to Ruth and Sam Klapman, a close brother-in-law to Marilyn and Bernie Hooper. A special uncle to many nieces and nephews in Winnipeg, Toronto, Richmond and Atlanta. Saul leaves behind many devoted relatives and friends in both Winnipeg and Vancouver.
One of Saul’s greatest accomplishments was his time in the Merchant Navy where he worked as a stoker in the boiler room and received medals for his bravery. He was very active with the Masons and Shriners and was a conscientious employee with Canadian Sportswear. He welcomed the exciting travels to Europe and Asia to oversee the manufacturing of the garments. After moving to Richmond he worked for Mr. Jax and Marshall Cramers Designs and retired at seventy- nine. Upon retirement Saul remained active by exercising at the Garett Centre three times a week and playing cards with his many friends at Minoru Senior’s until his decline. Saul spent the last eight months at the Minoru Residence. Our sincerest thanks to the entire staff for their ongoing care to Saul and a special thanks to Jodi (recreational therapist) at Minoru for her ongoing encouragement and support.
