Sheila was a loving wife for almost 60 years to her husband Izzy, a loving mother to her children, Debbie, Stewart (Janie) Sharon (Irv); a beloved grandmother to Adam, Elise, Michael, Jordan, Evan, Nicole, Justin and Matthew; and a loving sister to Clarice Rayter. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Eva and Sam Hollander, her sister and brother-in-law, Pearl and Syd Palay, and her brother-in-law, Leonard Rayter.
Sheila was born in Winnipeg Feb 23,1937 and moved to Vancouver when she was 19. She was fixed up with her beshert and, after a two-month engagement, married Izzy. They shared a beautiful life together, travelling and enjoying their children and grandchildren. Mom always put family first and was always eager to attend any simcha. She had a knack of remembering everyone’s birthday and anniversaries with a card or phone call. She was truly the matriarch of the family, hosting all of the seders and yomtif dinners.
Her greatest pleasure though was her grandchildren. She never missed a chance to go to Toronto to visit with everyone and she always lit up when they would visit or call.
Mom was adored by all who new her and will be sadly missed
Our gratitude goes out to her caregivers: Lala, Alona, Maricel, and Mary Grace.
We are thankful for the wonderful care she received from the nurses and doctors at VGH and Dr. Sunshine
