It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Min (Minnie) Sterling, on Monday, September 27, 2021 in her 97th year.
Min passed away peacefully in her sleep and is now with her beloved husband, Ralph, and son Michael. With her passing, Min leaves behind her daughter Lianne Sterling Swanson, son-in-law Eric Swanson, brother Dr. Samuel Goldman, sister-in-law Randy Goldman, nephews Peter Goldman (Shannon), Joseph Goldman, Hartley Goldman, and Howie (Sonia) Goldman, along with niece Carla Goldman Plummer and many great-nieces and nephews. Min was predeceased by her parents Peter and Fagya Goldman, as well as her brothers Aaron and Buck Goldman, her husband Ralph (Kamensky) Sterling and her son Michael Sterling.
Min was born in Mezirich, Poland in 1924 and emigrated to Canada as an infant. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Manitoba, where she met and married musician Ralph Sterling, the love of her life. Min moved with him to Chicago, Illinois, where their two children were born. They remained happily married for 54 years until his passing.
Min devoted her life to her family as a stay-at-home mother. Her children were her proudest achievement. During her later years, she and her husband left Chicago for California to be near their two children. Upon her husband and son’s passing, she joined her daughter’s family in Tennessee and lived out her final years.
Heartfelt thanks go out to the staff of Aveanna Hospice and Creekside at Three Rivers in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, who cared for her during her last days, treating her so kindly with patience and love.
Private burial was at Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Los Angeles, California, where she will rest with her dear husband and son.
