Masarsky Sol bw edited 2Sol was born in Winnipeg on December 4th, 1925 and passed away on June 29th, 2020 at the Grace Hospital with family by his side. His funeral was held on July 1st, 2020 and was meaningfully conducted by Tracy Kasner Greaves.


Marla Bernstein copy edited 1It is with such sorrow in our hearts that we announce the passing of Marla Bernstein. After a long illness Marla passed away peacefully on July 26, 2020. Marla was truly adorable in every way. She was a wonderful conversationalist, a great listener and had a smile that could brighten even the darkest days. Her greatest joy was to cuddle up on the couch for a great chat or to watch a favourite movie, CNN or the food channel. She was always great company!

Enid married Leslie Malkin, M.D. (of blessed memory) and was mother to Fred (Ruth), Irvine CA; Jerrold, Salinas CA; and Morton (Cheryl), Chapel Hill NC; also grandmother to Daniel, Rebecca, Hayley, and Norah.

MARTIN STANLEY ZIMMERMAN (June 23, 1945 - August 17, 2020)

On Monday, August 17, 2020, at Carewest Dr Vernon Fanning Centre in Calgary, AB, our cousin Martin peacefully took his last breath.
Born in Winnipeg, Martin was the cherished only son of Eve (Moldowan of Toronto) and Louis Zimmerman. He graduated from Kelvin High School and received BA and LLB degrees from the University of Manitoba.


Lawrence Gladstone, at the age of 97, passed on August 25, 2020, the 5th of Elul.
He is survived by his companion and confidant Carolyn, first wife Louise (nee Winegratsky), daughters Robin, Marcia (Ray), Terri (Daryl) and son Scott; grandchildren Erica (Ryan), Joel (Christina), Brooke (Jacob), Haley (Ryan), Derek, Madison, and Cameron; and great-grandchildren Jordan, Cecily, Owen, and Connor.
Larry was predesceased by his parents, Harry and Frida Rifka, brothers Max (Rose), Joe (Evelyn), and sister Anne (Bert).


Peacefully, with dignity, and his family by his side, Abe Simkin passed away at Del Mar, California on July 22, 2020 at the age of 98.

Abe was predeceased by his wife Fan Simkin, his parents, Fanny and Samuel Simkin, his siblings and their spouses, Jen and Sam Cohen, Clara and Joe Erlichman, Jim and Lil Simkin, Saul and Claribel Simkin , and Blackie and Jean Simkin, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sam and Leah Rosenberg, Max Rosenberg, Becky and Harry Rosenberg, and Becky and Irv Ruvinsky, and his daughter-in-law Kathryn Simkin.

Cooky was a wonderful devoted daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend. Her dog Brandi was her constant companion until she went to doggy heaven.

LAZER BAR-AD (BORODITSKY) November 18, 1937 - June 21, 2020

Lazer passed away after a brief illness, leaving a legacy of dedication to family, education and Jewish life.  After marrying Leah Kolber of Israel, he taught in Medicine Hat, Portage la Prairie and Winnipeg in the 1960's.  In the late 1960s,  Lazer, Leah, Yaffa and Roneet settled in Israel where son Aviram was born.
